Bull Riding Gear

In order to last 8 seconds in the ring with a raging 2,000 pound bull, a professional cowboy needs to have the right equipment.

Saddles - A bull rider needs a comfortable saddle in order to stay mounted on the bull for 8 seconds. Many saddles are custom made for the rider for the most comfort and support. Bull saddles can be expensive, but choosing the right saddle can mean the difference between staying on and getting bucked off. To save money, some riders purchased used saddles. Some brands of saddles include, Billy Cook Saddles, Brazos River Saddlery, Cactus Saddlery, Tucker Saddles, Reinsman Saddles, and Double J.

Cowboy Boots and spurs: One of the most important components to a bull rider's gear is the cowboy boots he wears. Some cowboy boots are chosen because of their fashion rather than function, but there are some good looking cowboy boots that are comfortable to wear. Custom cowboy boots are also popular, giving more comfortable performance for the rider. Popular brands of cowboy and western boots include Tony Lama, Laredo, Anderson Bean,
Lucchese, Justin, Ariat, and Dingo.

Vests and chaps- Just about all bull riders wear chaps to prevent injury and burn on the inner legs, and many bull riders and cowboys also wear vests. Chaps and vests are almost always made of leather and offer support and comfort to the rider.
